Eiffel Tower Paris, France please, that is all you have to say and the TomTom 930T leads you there! Ok, maybe that would not work if you were in the United States, but if you happen to bring your TomTom 930T to Europe or particularly France, you could say that and the TomTom 930T will lead you there!
Unlike most GPS models, the TomTom 930T has maps of Europe along with maps of the United States and Canada. It also has Voice Address input (hence the Eiffel Tower bit early on) so you can say where you want to go, and the TomTom 930T takes you there.
Features
Now, how many times have you been on the road heading towards a restaurant, but you don’t know what side of the road it is on? And there is a lot traffic, so you really don’t want to miss it? So you finally see it… on your right… too bad you are in the left lane… and you have a moment to decide if you should risk your life and cut the guy off next to you or keep going hoping to find a U-turn before you are ten minutes late? Well maybe not the same situation, but you have probably been in one similar. The TomTom 930T was developed by people that know this conundrum and designed this GPS so that if you buy it, this will never happen to you again. The TomTom 930T has Advanced Lane Guidance that tells you what lane you need to be in on each road to reach your destination.
Your TomTom 930T can also tell you what the traffic is like so you can avoid high traffic areas before you get stuck in one.
Another great feature of the TomTom 930T is Bluetooth technology. This technology connects the TomTom 930T to your phone. Therefore you can make and answer phone calls through your GPS. And if you receive a text message, you can choose to have the TomTom930T read it to you. Listening to your favorite MP3’s and your favorite books is an option with the TomTom 93
0T. You can upload MP3’s and books to this GPS and it plays them through your car’s speakers using the FM Transmitter. Basically your TomTom 930T is not only a global positioning device, it is also your own personal Justin Timberlake and J.K. Rowling… or Jason Mraz and Jane Austen…Jay-Z and James Patterson?
You can also upload pictures to the TomTom 930T to view at your leisure. No more worrying about weather when you are on the road, the TomTom 930T also gives you live weather reports and you can even add TomTom buddies to your GPS! If you have friends or family in the area that have a TomTom GPS, you can add them as a TomTom buddy. You can see where they are and if they are in the area. Slightly stalkerish… but could be fun.
Cons of the TomTom 930T
One negative of the TomTom 930T is that a lot of the features cost extra money to you. For example the traffic has a service fee, however if you just look around at the website, it does not tell you how much it is. Therefore they expect you to blindly buy the product without knowing the cost of receiving some of the features. Plus, if you want the features and you do not have a Bluetooth enabled phone, you can’t use any of the features. So, if you do not already have a Bluetooth phone, you have to add that into the extra costs. The cord to attach your iPod to your GPS in order to transfer over MP3’s is $29.99, which is another additional cost to use all of the features of the TomTom 930T.
Pros of the TomTom 930T
You will never have to worry if you have the most current route, and if there is a change, you can update it right away. It is also awesome that you can enter a desired arrival time and find out if you will be early or late. I love this, because I am TERRIBLE about knowing how long it will take me to get somewhere. All the time I say… “I will be there in 15 minutes!” And it takes me 30… or I say, “I will see you in 30 minutes!” And I get there in 15…Also, if you are willing to pay the extra costs, the features like Bluetooth, traffic, weather conditions, MP3s, etc. also make the TomTom 930T superb.
What do you think? Do service fees influence your decision with buying your GPS? Does it change if you want a Garmin, TomTom, or Magellan? Let me know, leave a comment!
