The TomTom ONE 125 is the least expensive TomTom GPS available with a starting price of $99.95, however it has all of the infamous features the other TomTom models have that make it a quality product.
EasyPort™ mount is one of the new features of the TomTom One 125. Basically the EasyPort mount is a compact GPS mount that is used to hang the TomTom One 125. The small size of the mount makes it easier to store the One 125 with the mount. It is also easy to remove the mount from the GPS.
TomTom Mapshare technology is signature to all of the TomTom models and therefore is also a feature of the TomTom One 125. First of all, the Mapshare technology allows the consumer to update the TomTom One 125 maps while driving around. Then, when the consumer returns home, he can update the TomTom One 125 to the TomTom Website using the TomTom Home software the accompanies each TomTom model, allowing all TomTom users to see the change. For example: Let’s say Bob is driving around and turns right on Green Boulevard, but then their is road construction causing Bob to detour in another direction to reach his destination. To prevent other TomTom users from getting stuck on Green Boulevard, Bob can make the change on his TomTom One 125 using the handy TomTom Mapshare technology. When he returns home, Bob will upload his changes to the TomTom Home software, and then all other TomTom users who update their models will see that there is construction on Green Boulevard. This allows for the TomTom maps to be the most updated ones available, which is a really nice feature of the TomTom GPS.
There are other features besides the technology on the TomTom Home software. This is also where you can download a large variety of voices for your GPS. For example, if you want Ozzy Osbourne to give you directions, you just download it from the TomTom website through the TomTom Home software and you have Ozzy Osbourne giving you directions to your destination!
The TomTom One 125 comes with several POIs included, however if you want additional ones on your GPS, you can download those as well using you TomTom Home software on your computer. If you are ever in a situation where you are stuck either from an accident, blown tire, or whatever it may be, the TomTom One 125 has the Help Me! feature that helps you reach the help you need as quickly as possible. You press the Help Me! icon and it will give you local emergency phone numbers, addresses, and the closest emergency providers. An excellent resource in a time of trouble on the road.
Unlike some GPS models, the TomTom One 125 has the QuickGPSfix technology that helps get you a GPS connection quickly. I have had the experience where I am in a hurry to get somewhere, but I do not know where it is. So, I turn on a GPS and it takes more than 5 minutes to connect, so I can not get any directions for 5 minutes. That is basically the difference between me being a little late and me being a lot late! So, it is nice that the TomTom One 125 was designed to not have that problem. In order to continue keeping the quick connection, you need to update the QuickGPSfix on your TomTom One 125 using the TomTom Home software. If you have any problems where you either miss a turn or anything else that might take you in a different direction that what the TomTom One 125 is telling you, the TomTom One 125 will reroute you quickly so that you are back on your way towards your destination!
Cons of the TomTom 125
You have to pay for additional maps. The TomTom 125 comes with complete maps of the United States, but if you want to go anywhere else to use your GPS, you have to pay for additional maps. What is nice, is if TomTom updates the map of the United States within 30 days of your purchase, you can download the updated version for free. However, if it is after that, you have to pay around $60 for the newest map, not including the ones updated by other TomTom users. Also, there are not any special features on the TomTom One 125, like no traffic reports, bluetooth technology, or any other type of fancy feature.
It works right out of the box. You just set up the mount on the dashboard, plug it into your cigarette lighter, and you are on your way. It also has a really loud speaker so you never have to worry about not hearing directions over all of the car noise. The price is really low for a GPS, and what makes it less expensive is not a decrease in quality, but a decrease in features. If you are looking for a first time GPS, and you do not have a high budget to make your purchase, the TomTom One 125 has all of the basic features you need.
